Kayte and Claye knew that Langi Oonah Homestead was the perfect place to wed from the moment they first visited, although it feels like you are lost and driving who knows where in the middle of the bush, once you find this hidden gem it is pure magic!
Set alongside the Murray River the property boasts lush gardens and lawn area with a tennis court as the perfect base for your marquee reception, the venue set the scene for this oh so fun day.
To achieve the relaxed vibe they were going for they knew it was key to incorporate a bar area at the ceremony so guests could mingle and enjoy the beautiful gardens before and after the I do's!
Some of the all-star suppliers involved are on Bang's must have local list including Blaze Displays (signage), Linda Savy (celebrant), Mayfield Collective (hair and makeup) and Jessica Lauren Designs (Kayte's AMAZING dress) - check them out if you are planning your wedding in North East Victoria and surrounds!
Photographer and Videographer duo Saha Weddings captured all the moments.
It was New Year’s Day and we were heading to a wedding recovery, Claye and I were waiting in the car for my sister in law and brother in law (Blair & Zoe) to stack the esky and get in the car. For some unknown reason, I opened up the glove box and staring back at me was a ring box. Claye snatched it out of my hand, went bright red and put his head into his arms on the steering wheel. I could tell straight away that I’d ruined his proposal plans!! In the middle of me screaming and crying, Blair and Zoe got in the car and then Claye proposed in front of them. It was so special to have two of our closest friends there for our proposal. His plan was to propose in Sri Lanka - we were flying out the following day!
How did you find the planning process?
I absolutely LOVED planning our wedding. Even in the midst of pandemic, I wasn’t too stressed, I just tried to soak it all up and enjoy it all. A little planning "surprise" was the 5 day snap lockdown two weeks before the wedding but thankfully we were able to go ahead as we had planned!
The style and vibe of your day?
My style was earthy and relaxed vibes creating a really fun environment for our guests, we used olive greens, soft pastels, native florals with classic furniture in timber, white, gold and mustard.
My dress inspo was from a few different styles I loved, I simply showed my amazing dress maker (Jessica Lauren Designs) and she worked her magic and came up with a beautiful design. We are so lucky to have such talent right on our doorstep in Yarrawonga.
Favourite moment or detail?
I loved being on the dance floor all night which overlooked the river and being surrounded by everyone we love, the dance floor was at capacity all night thanks to our amazing band, Yomama.
Our wedding was cocktail style (with the most delicious Mexican food truck, Dos Amigos - it is such a vibe), which meant we didn’t have set tables, so I loved how the wedding party sat together casually on Bang's bench seats and stools during speeches, this looked so cool in the video.
I was also glad I had created a photo wall (signage from Blaze Displays) with photos of the wedding party from our childhood and/or teenage years. It just highlighted how special these people in our wedding party were to us.
LOL's or Near Disaster?
When my bridesmaid, Maddy put her dress on, we realised the straps had slightly stretched and were falling down, so we did the world’s worst safety pin job on our way out the door! My other bridesmaid, Jess, had a slight wardrobe malfunction as she was being presented, luckily she had boob tape on. I also ‘whoo’d’ too hard after the ceremony and snapped the strap off my arm band haha.
We are glad we!
Clayes brother Jaiden brews his own craft beer - Thirstbridge Brewery (check them out), so it was so great to be able to include a range of his beers on tap. It was definitely a talking point for our guests of which one was the favourite drop - I think the winner was Bird and his Bird pacific ale followed closely by The Hazy Matrimonial
Best piece of advice for any planning bride + grooms?
