Jackie and Scotty threw what can only be described as an epic New Years Eve party!

From the beginning of planning their day they knew Lake Mulwala was going to be the perfect back drop, naturally adding a clear roof marquee with a roof full of fairy lights was high on the list to bring their vision to life.

A must have for the couple was a live band. The Baker Boys did not disappoint with the outdoor dance floor pumping all night and the centre of all the action, surrounded by The Paella Pan and Vin Bar creating a fun festive vibe.

100km per hour winds and dust storms the day prior and on the morning of the wedding was not going to get in the way of this gorgeous marquee wedding.

There to capture the magic of the day was photographer Amber Fletcher!

How did you find the planning process?

I absolutely loved everything about planning a wedding and had it pretty much all sorted on the overnight bus after we got engaged. I had a vision board, got a few quotes off different suppliers, and then put it all into action.

The style and vibe of your day?

Being a New Year’s Eve Wedding we wanted a bright & fun festival vibe, which somehow led to the yellow/gold colour palette. It all worked perfectly - the caravan bar had the cutest yellow stripe and the paella brought so much brightness with its feast of colours under the outdoor festoon lighting. The tables had candles spread out with greenery and we splurged with an insane yellow neon sign that read “all you need is love” behind the bridal table. We had the ultimate dream team, our vendors were all so laid-back, accomodating and helpful. It completely blew our mind how cool it all looked with all 189 of our loved ones there celebrating us!

The dress!

Oh my god, my dress. I was completely in love the moment I tried it on at One Day Bridal. We had a girls weekend in Melbourne with my four bridesmaids, Mum and Aunty - and had booked into three bridal shops. The first shop I liked most of the dresses but didn't get that feeling, I got to One Day Bridal and the first dress I tried on I said a big "yes to the dress". The champagne bottle was popped, and glasses were brought out, we cancelled my last booking and all celebrated late into the night. It was the best experience and I loved every minute.

Favourite moment or detail?

We were on the dance floor and both got lifted onto the shoulders of our guests. The song playing was "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey and I remember having the biggest smile on our faces and a cheeky kiss in the air. Looking around at all our friends/family having the best time dancing and drinking was amazing. Scotty the cutie, said he loved the moment he finally saw me walking down the aisle with my dad and saying “I DO”.

LOL's or Near Disaster?

There were a few! I incorrectly put my dress on and the zip wouldn’t go back down. I had to manoeuvre myself out getting a little makeup on my dress which was a very stressful moment. Scotty legit ripped me out of my dress that night as we still could not get the zip down.

We hired a mini bus for the bridal party photos, after our first location at the amazing Blacksmith Provedore the bus driver realised he had a flat battery (certainly not the worst place to get stuck). A group of guys assisted and started pushing the bus so the boys didn't wreck their suits, and we were soon on our way, with everyone cheering and laughing us off. Also, my Great Uncle Pat apparently got to the church an hour earlier and then went to the wrong venue for the reception.

We wish we had of!

Scotty would have gone to bed the night before earlier, I don't think 3.00am was a good idea. I would have slowed my walking pace down the aisle, I was almost running I was that nervous.

We are glad we!

We are so glad we had Anna and Drew from Bang Event Co as a part of our “Bride Tribe”. They were out of this world amazing. No words could even describe how awesome they were from start to finish. Our wedding was around the time of the fires and the day before it was 44 degrees and the wind and dust coming off the lake was unimaginable. Anna did the whole set up the morning of the wedding and I did not see a thing until we arrived at the reception. If there was one thing I was confident about it was Anna and she did not disappoint.

Best piece of advice for any planning bride + grooms?

Lash out on your Honeymoon! Don't sweat the small stuff (only you will know) and have a priority list - ours was delicious food, a band to tear up the dance floor and hydration in the form of alcohol. All the other things can then be eliminated if your budget won't allow.
